San Diego, California

To me, San Diego is the epitome of California dreaming. Average monthly temperatures range from highs of 57 to 75 degrees. San Diego has the absolute perfect temperatures for biking on the beach, hiking along the ocean, strolling through farmer’s markets, walking through the 100 acre zoo and so much more.

San Diego is about a 2.5 hour drive away from Los Angeles making it a great stop on a longer Southern California vacation. The airport in San Diego is also right downtown which makes it an incredibly easy city to get in and out of for a lovely long weekend. Downtown San Diego, the beach area and historic neighborhoods are all easily accessible by walking, biking or taking an Uber, a rental car is not necessary to enjoy the city.

One of my absolute favorite things to do in San Diego is the Little Italy Mercato Famers’ Market. They happen year round on Wednesday and Saturday mornings in the charming Little Italy neighborhood. Grab a unique souvenir, fresh produce and bakery items for a picnic on the beach, or even a full breakfast from a food truck. It is the best way to start your day in San Diego. Speaking of picnics on the beaches, the almost 3 mile pedestrian path from Mission Beach to Pacific Beach is great for walking, biking, rollerblading or bar hopping and eating your way along the ocean. Another one of my must stop places when I travel to San Diego is Stone Brewing World Bistro and Gardens at Liberty Station. It is a sprawling indoor and outdoor brewery with great food, deliciously fresh beer and an outstanding ambiance.

Whether you’re adding San Diego on as a pit stop on your Southern California adventure or you’re spending a week’s vacation, you are sure to see stunning sites, eat delicious food and soak up some sun.
